Filtered model
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005573
A numerical weather prediction model that employs filtered equations, designed to exclude or suppress high-frequency, small-scale atmospheric waves, such as sound waves and gravity waves. This approach allows for larger time steps in numerical integration, making the model more computationally efficient for simulating synoptic-scale weather. Early operational weather models were often filtered models.
