Fixing of atmospheric gases

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005608

The process by which atmospheric gases are converted into more stable, often solid or liquid, forms through chemical or biological reactions. This transformation removes the gas from the atmosphere and incorporates it into other reservoirs. A prominent example is nitrogen fixation, where atmospheric nitrogen is converted into ammonia by microorganisms.
