Fjord
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005609
A long, narrow, and deep inlet of the sea, typically flanked by steep cliffs or slopes, formed by glacial erosion. These geological features are characteristic of coastlines that were heavily glaciated during past ice ages. The U-shaped cross-section of a fjord is a direct result of the erosive power of moving ice sheets.
