Flux-ratio method
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005665
A way to estimate how fast a convective mixed layer deepens, in which the entrainment heat flux at the top of the layer is taken as a fixed fraction of the surface heat flux, with opposite sign. The fraction is typically between 0.1 and 0.3, and 0.2 is a common choice. Combined with the strength of the capping inversion, it gives the rate of mixed-layer growth.
