Fog wind

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005693

A localized wind that develops in coastal areas when cold, dense air associated with fog flows down valleys or channels toward warmer, less dense air over land. This phenomenon is driven by temperature and pressure differences between the fog-laden air and the surrounding environment. It can lead to rapid changes in local wind direction and speed.
