Forecast verification

The systematic assessment of the accuracy and quality of weather forecasts by comparing them against actual observed atmospheric conditions. This process evaluates forecast performance using statistical metrics to quantify errors and biases. Common metrics include mean absolute error, root mean square error, and skill scores.
