Root-mean-square error
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008605
A statistical measure of the magnitude of the errors between predicted values and observed values, commonly used to evaluate the performance of meteorological models. It is calculated as the square root of the average of the squared differences between prediction and observation. A lower root-mean-square error indicates a more accurate model or forecast.
