Error
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005467
The difference between a computed, forecast, or measured value and the true or accepted value of a quantity. In numerical weather prediction, forecast error grows over time due to initial condition uncertainties and model imperfections. Common metrics for quantifying forecast error include the mean absolute error (MAE) and the root mean square error (RMSE).
