Four-dimensional data assimilation

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005736

A method used in numerical weather prediction to combine observational data with a forecast model over a specific time window, typically several hours. It seeks to find the model state that best fits both the observations and the model's dynamics within that window. This technique produces a more accurate initial state for subsequent forecasts.
