Fraternal twin integrations
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005747
A method for evaluating the performance of a numerical weather prediction model by comparing two separate, long-term model runs. One run, the 'nature run', uses a high-resolution or complex physics configuration to simulate a realistic atmospheric state. The second run, the 'forecast run', uses a degraded or different model version to generate forecasts, which are then verified against the nature run to quantify model error growth and predictability.
