Free-surface conditions
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005764
A set of boundary conditions applied in fluid dynamics models at the interface between a liquid and a gas, such as the ocean and the atmosphere. The primary condition is that the pressure at the surface is constant and equal to the atmospheric pressure acting upon it. A second condition specifies the shear stress at the surface, which is often assumed to be zero for calm conditions or determined by wind forcing.
