Free convection scaling

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005753

A set of theoretical relationships used to describe the characteristics of turbulent convection in the atmosphere when buoyancy forces dominate over shear production of turbulence. These scaling laws relate quantities like velocity, temperature, and height within a convective boundary layer. They are particularly applicable to conditions of strong surface heating and light winds.
