Frequency-domain averaging
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005783
A signal processing technique that enhances the signal-to-noise ratio by averaging multiple measurements in the frequency domain. This method is particularly useful for extracting weak periodic signals from noisy atmospheric data. It involves transforming time-domain data into the frequency domain, performing the averaging, and then often transforming back to the time domain.
