Coherent integration
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004487
A signal processing technique in Doppler radar that combines a sequence of consecutive received pulses while preserving their phase information. This process enhances the signal-to-noise ratio by summing the in-phase components of the signal from stationary or slowly moving targets. The number of pulses integrated, typically between 8 and 64, determines the trade-off between sensitivity and the time required to scan a volume.
