Noncoherent echo
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007569
A radar return signal where the phase relationship between successive pulses is random or uncorrelated, indicating that the scatterers are moving chaotically or are not uniformly distributed. This type of echo is characteristic of precipitation or other atmospheric targets that are not acting as a single, coherent reflector. Noncoherent processing focuses on the amplitude of the signal rather than its phase.
