Noncoherent target

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007570

A radar target composed of many individual scatterers whose relative positions change significantly between successive radar pulses, leading to random phase variations in the backscattered signal. This describes meteorological phenomena like rain, snow, or hail, where individual hydrometeors move independently. The radar signal from such targets exhibits a broad spectrum of frequencies.
