Coherent detection
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004486
A signal processing technique that involves mixing a received signal with a locally generated reference signal to extract information, particularly phase and frequency. In radar and lidar systems, this method enhances sensitivity and allows for the measurement of Doppler shifts, which indicate target velocity. It is widely used in wind profilers and Doppler weather radars.
