Gowk storm

A period of stormy, unseasonably cold weather that occurs in late spring, particularly in parts of the United Kingdom. This weather event is marked by a sudden return to wintry conditions, including cold winds, sleet, or snow, after milder spring temperatures have become established. These late spring cold snaps are associated with incursions of polar air and are observed in the Northern Hemisphere during late April or early May.
