Groundwater level

The elevation of the water table, which is the upper surface of the zone of saturation where all pore spaces in the soil or rock are filled with water. It fluctuates in response to precipitation, evaporation, and human activities such as pumping. This level is often measured in meters or feet relative to a fixed datum.
