Heat of condensation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006195
The latent heat released when a substance changes from a gaseous state to a liquid state at a constant temperature. This energy release warms the surrounding environment and is a primary driver of atmospheric convection and storm development. For water vapor, it is approximately 2,260 kilojoules per kilogram at 100 degrees Celsius.
