Heat of vaporization
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006198
The latent heat absorbed by a substance when it changes from a liquid state to a gaseous state at a constant temperature. This energy input is necessary to overcome intermolecular forces and is a fundamental process in the Earth's water cycle. For water at 100 degrees Celsius, this value is about 2260 kilojoules per kilogram.
