Homothermy
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006271
A state in a body of water or the atmosphere where the temperature is uniform throughout its vertical extent. In lakes or oceans, this occurs during periods of mixing, often in spring and autumn, when surface cooling or warming leads to convection. In the atmosphere, it describes a layer with a constant temperature with height, which is a rare and unstable condition.
