Isothermal
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010573
Describing a process or a region in which temperature remains constant. An isothermal layer in the atmosphere is a vertical zone where temperature does not change with an increase in altitude, creating a stable atmospheric condition. This contrasts with the typical tropospheric lapse rate, where temperature decreases with height at an average of 6.5°C per kilometer.
