Uniform layer

A stratum within the atmosphere or ocean where certain properties, such as temperature, humidity, or salinity, are relatively constant with height or depth. This concept is often applied to the atmospheric boundary layer under stable conditions. Such layers can act as barriers to vertical mixing.
