Hygroscopic coefficient

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006374

The maximum amount of water vapor that a soil or other porous material can absorb from a saturated atmosphere at a specific temperature, expressed as a percentage of its dry weight. This value represents the water held by hygroscopic forces, which is generally unavailable to plants. It is a measure of the material's capacity to attract and retain atmospheric moisture.
