Hygroscopicity

The property of a substance to attract and absorb moisture from the surrounding atmosphere. This characteristic is particularly relevant in atmospheric science for understanding how aerosols and other particles interact with water vapor, influencing cloud formation and atmospheric chemistry. Substances with high hygroscopicity can act as effective cloud condensation nuclei.
