Sorption
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009053
A physical or chemical process where one substance becomes attached to another, encompassing both absorption and adsorption. In absorption, the substance penetrates the bulk of the material, while in adsorption, it adheres to the surface. This phenomenon is relevant in atmospheric chemistry for understanding how gases and particles interact with aerosols and cloud droplets, influencing air quality and climate processes.
