Inactive front
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006468
A frontal boundary that has lost much of its original temperature or moisture contrast, resulting in little to no active weather phenomena such as precipitation or strong winds. While still discernible on weather maps by a shift in wind direction or a subtle pressure trough, its influence on local weather is minimal. Such fronts often represent the decaying stage of a more active weather system.
