Infrared spectroscopy
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006547
A technique that analyzes the interaction of infrared radiation with matter to identify and quantify atmospheric gases. Molecules absorb infrared radiation at specific wavelengths corresponding to their vibrational and rotational energy transitions. This method is used to measure the concentrations of greenhouse gases, ozone, and other trace species in the atmosphere.
