Instability chart

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006564

A meteorological chart that graphically displays atmospheric conditions related to vertical stability, often derived from rawinsonde data. These charts, such as a Skew-T log-P diagram or a Stüve diagram, show temperature and dew point profiles, allowing forecasters to identify layers of stable or unstable air. They are used to assess the potential for convective weather, including thunderstorms.
