Loop antenna

A type of antenna consisting of one or more turns of wire forming a closed loop, used for transmitting or receiving radio waves. In meteorology, loop antennas are sometimes employed in radio direction finding for locating lightning strikes or in specialized atmospheric research. They are often characterized by their directional properties and relatively small size.
