Micropulsations
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007280
Small, quasi-sinusoidal fluctuations in the Earth's magnetic field with very low frequencies and small amplitudes. These waves are generated by interactions between the solar wind and the magnetosphere. They are classified by their period, ranging from Pc1 (0.2 to 5 seconds) to Pc5 (150 to 600 seconds), and are studied using magnetometers to understand plasma processes in near-Earth space.
