Small perturbation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008956
A minor deviation or disturbance from a basic, steady, or mean state in a physical system, such as the atmosphere. The evolution of these disturbances is studied using perturbation theory, which linearizes the governing equations to analyze atmospheric stability and wave propagation. This method is used to understand the initial growth of phenomena like baroclinic waves.
