Perturbation theory
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007881
A mathematical framework used to find approximate solutions to problems that are difficult to solve exactly, by starting from a known exact solution to a simpler, related problem and adding small corrections. In meteorology, it is applied to analyze the stability and evolution of small disturbances in atmospheric flows. This theory is foundational for understanding atmospheric waves and instabilities.
