Potential flow theory
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008082
A theoretical framework in fluid dynamics that describes the motion of an incompressible, irrotational, and inviscid fluid. This theory simplifies fluid flow problems by assuming the existence of a velocity potential, allowing for analytical solutions in certain idealized scenarios. While not fully representative of the real atmosphere, it provides foundational insights into fluid behavior.
