Method of small perturbations
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007262
A mathematical technique used to analyze the stability of atmospheric flows by introducing small disturbances to a basic state. This approach linearizes the governing equations, allowing for analytical solutions that describe the growth or decay of these disturbances over time. It is widely applied in studies of atmospheric waves and baroclinic instability.
