Method of successive approximations

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007263

An iterative numerical technique used to find approximate solutions to equations or systems of equations by refining an initial guess through repeated steps. In atmospheric modeling, it can be employed to solve complex non-linear equations that describe atmospheric processes, such as radiative transfer or turbulent mixing. Each iteration brings the solution closer to the true value.
