Galerkin approximation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005864
A numerical method used to find approximate solutions to differential equations by projecting the residual onto a set of basis functions. It seeks a solution within a finite-dimensional subspace that minimizes the error in a weighted integral sense. This technique is a foundational component of many finite element methods used in atmospheric modeling.
