Microthermal

A climate class with a long, cold winter, defined in the Köppen scheme as group D: the coldest month averages below -3 degrees Celsius (or 0 in some versions) and the warmest month above 10 degrees. Such climates occupy the continental interiors of the Northern Hemisphere at middle and high latitudes, from boreal forest to the northern Great Plains and the grain-growing parts of Ukraine and Russia.
