Microtherm

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007282

A plant adapted to thrive in cool or cold temperature environments, with low heat requirements for growth. These plants are characteristic of high-latitude or high-altitude ecosystems, such as boreal forests or alpine meadows. The term is used in bioclimatology to classify vegetation based on its thermal tolerances, contrasting with mesotherms (moderate temperature) and megatherms (high temperature).
