Mil

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007299

A unit of angle used mainly in artillery, aiming and navigation, in which the NATO mil equals one 6400th of a full circle, or 0.05625 degrees. It approximates the milliradian, one thousandth of a radian or about 0.0573 degrees, so a circle holds 6283 milliradians rather than 6400 mils. At a distance of one kilometre one mil spans about one metre.
