Inertial circle

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006513

A circular path followed by a fluid parcel in a rotating system when it is subject only to the Coriolis force, with no other external forces acting upon it. The radius of this circle depends on the initial velocity of the parcel and the Coriolis parameter. The period of an inertial circle is equal to the inertial period.
