Mollisol

A type of soil characterized by a thick, dark-colored surface horizon rich in organic matter, formed under grassland vegetation. These soils are known for their high fertility and are found in temperate regions with moderate rainfall. Mollisols are one of the twelve soil orders in the USDA soil taxonomy.
