Multichannel sea surface temperature
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007445
A method for deriving sea surface temperature (SST) from satellite-borne infrared radiometers by using measurements from multiple spectral channels. This technique allows for the correction of atmospheric absorption and emission effects, particularly from water vapor, which can contaminate single-channel measurements. The resulting SST products are more accurate and widely used in oceanography and climate monitoring.
