Nimbus

A series of NASA meteorological research satellites launched between 1964 and 1978, designed to test advanced sensors and provide global atmospheric data. These satellites carried instruments for measuring temperature, humidity, ozone, and radiation, contributing significantly to the development of remote sensing techniques. The Nimbus program laid the groundwork for modern weather and climate satellites.
