Normal barometer
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007591
A mercury barometer of a specific design and high precision, intended for use as a reference standard to calibrate other barometers. Its construction requires pure, degassed mercury and a precisely measured glass tube, with corrections applied for temperature, gravity, and capillary action to yield an accurate pressure reading. The Fortin barometer is a well-known type of transportable normal barometer used for station and laboratory calibration.
