Orbital velocity
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007727
The speed at which an object travels along its orbit around another celestial body. This velocity is determined by the mass of the central body, the distance of the orbiting object from it, and the shape of the orbit. For a stable circular orbit around Earth, the orbital velocity is approximately 7.8 kilometers per second at low Earth orbit.
