Persistence tendency

The tendency for atmospheric conditions or weather patterns to remain unchanged from one period to the next. This concept is often used in forecasting, where the simplest prediction is that tomorrow's weather will be similar to today's. It is particularly relevant for short-range forecasts in stable atmospheric conditions.
