Personal equation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007877
A systematic error or bias introduced into observations by an individual observer, often due to variations in reaction time or interpretation of instrument readings. In meteorology, this could apply to visual observations of cloud cover or the timing of events. Modern automated instruments have largely reduced the impact of personal equation.
