Pogonip

A dense, icy fog composed of supercooled water droplets that freeze upon contact with surfaces, forming rime ice. This phenomenon occurs in mountain valleys, particularly in the western United States, when cold air is trapped and moisture condenses. It can significantly reduce visibility and create hazardous driving conditions.
